Mitchell/Harshman Wedding Invitation

Mark and Erin were married at the Toledo Museum of Art with their reception in the Egyptian gallery. It was my chance to put my love for Egyptian “everything” into play.

My role: concept, design, illustration and print production.

Silkscreened illustration on papyrus

The papyrus was shipped from Egypt. The cartouches at the top read, “Mark and Erin.” The hieroglyphic translation at the bottom is, “Love strengthens life.” A rubber stamp was made for the scarab.

Invitation

I used hieroglyphics, which were either translated phonetically or were the actual Egyptian word. For those who don’t read hieroglyphics, I did provide the translation.
